Bulleen Library Renovation: Frequently Asked Questions

Bulleen Library is undergoing an exciting transformation. To keep everyone safe during construction, the branch will be fully closed to the public.

 

Important Dates

  • Closure Date: Monday, 9 February 2026
  • Anticipated Reopening: Mid to late April 2026

 

Access & Returns

  • No Site Access: The library will be a construction site. There is no access to the collection, computers, or study spaces.
  • Closest Alternative: Doncaster Library (MC Square) is the nearest branch for all library services.
  • Returns: Chutes are closed. You can return items to any other branch (e.g., Doncaster, The Pines, Warrandyte) or simply keep them until we reopen.
  • No Fines: No items will be due during this period, and no overdue fines will be charged.

 

 

Holds & Italian Collection

  • Holds: All holds will be redirected to Doncaster Library. Call them if you would like to transfer your pickup to a different branch.
  • Italian Books: A small selection of Italian language books will be temporarily available to browse and borrow at Doncaster Library while Bulleen is closed.

 

 

Programs & Events

  • Regular Programs: Most onsite programs are on hold during the renovation.
  • Italian Storytime: This will continue! It has been relocated to Bulleen Plaza (outside the library) for the duration of the works.

 

 

Project Details

  • Children’s Area: A remodeled space designed to inspire young readers.
  • New Entrance: A redesigned entrance including automatic doors to significantly increase accessibility for all visitors.
  • New carpet throughout the library.
  • New and improved service desk.
  • Soundproof meeting pod.
  • New paint and updated signage for the front of the building.
