Grab your book, blanket and beanie – The Warm Winter Read is back at Whitehorse Manningham Libraries!
Sunday 1 June – Sunday 31 August


The Warm Winter Read encourages adults across Victoria to build healthy, mindful reading habits during the colder months. Whether you’re listening to an audiobook, flicking through a magazine, enjoying a graphic novel, or finally diving into that novel you’ve been meaning to read—every kind of reading counts!

Plus, you’ll get inspiration from Australian authors, and the chance to win fantastic bookish prizes just for participating.

Am I eligible to participate?

Yes—if you’re aged 16 or over, you’re welcome to join in!

Please note: When registering via the Vic Reads website, you’ll need to confirm that you are 16+ to participate.


How does it work?

1. Register:
You can join the Warm Winter Read in two ways:

  • Online: Register for an account at readbooks.com.au and select Whitehorse Manningham Libraries as your home library service.
  • Offline: Prefer paper? Pick up a printed reading tracker from any Whitehorse Manningham Libraries branch starting 1 June.

Paper trackers must be returned by 5pm, Wednesday 3 September to be entered into the draw.


2. Log Your Reading:
From 1 June to 31 August, log the days you read. Each milestone earns entries into the prize draw:

  • 5, 10, 20, and 45 days = prize draw entries
  • 1, 3, 6, and 9 book reviews = additional entries!

Love sharing your thoughts? Submit a short book review with your log online or hand it in with your paper tracker.


What can I read?

Anything you like! All formats and genres count:

  • Print books
  • eBooks
  • Audiobooks
  • Graphic novels
  • Magazines
  • Poetry
  • Fan fiction

Are there prizes?

Yes! There are statewide prizes to be won!

Statewide Prize Tiers:

  • Level 1: Book bundle
    → Submit 1 book review or track 5 days of reading
  • Level 2: Bookish hamper
    → Submit 3 reviews or track 10 days
  • Level 3: Sony headphones
    → Submit 6 reviews or track 20 days
  • Level 4: Kobo eReader
    → Submit 9 reviews or track 45 days
